Each pit is delivered to site complete with access steps, integrated lighting, and air points, reducing installation times by up to 70% compared to traditional reinforced concrete options.

The range includes five different pit types, purpose-built to support the maintenance of bogies and undercarriages across all locomotive and rolling stock models. For unique requirements, we also offer fully bespoke solutions tailored to your specifications.

Our Process

Design

Our skilled and experienced design engineers use the latest CAD technology to support architects, structural engineers, and contractors. While all under chassis wash pit follow a standard basic format, each can be customised to meet individual customer needs, offering an almost endless range of combinations. Bespoke designs for piled sites can also be developed with our Structural Engineer.

Manufacture

Our Rail Pits are built from high-quality mild steel, MIG-welded to create a completely watertight structure. When choosing a pit manufacturer, it’s essential to ensure the product meets the highest manufacturing standards. With Premier Pits, you can buy with confidence—every unit is fully compliant with BS EN 1090, UKCA & CE, and ISO 45001:2018 SSIP.

Installation

Once delivered to site, the Rail Pits are installed by our dedicated installation teams, all fully employed by Premier Pits - not subcontractors. This ensures peace of mind, as we guarantee the work throughout the entire process, not just the manufacture of the pit.
